MicroCFD
CFD stands for Computational Fluid Dynamics.
This is aerodynamics and flow. These are used in things like:
* Making planes be aerodynamic so that they actually fly
* Designing faster cars
* Designing Formula 1 cars
* Even designing Space Shuttles and Rockets for space exploration.
MicroCFD has an excellent and powerful program called MicroTunnel which is
a Virtual Wind Tunnel.
This program when run will tell you how aerodynamic a
shape is or what ever shape you make by
using Computational Fluid Dynamics and
will give images that use special scales (in color) to show
you what happened
and then it can also give you all the required statistics.
At first MicroTunnel looks very difficult to use but it ISN'T!!!
There is a tutorial in the help file and one on the MicroCFD website.
You can create your own shapes for use in MicroTunnel.
To make your own shape
files for MicroTunnel easily have a look
at our (Compupal) product MN
MicroTunnel Shape File Generator Version 2.
Here are some screenshots of two tests that I've done with MicroTunnel.
To
view the different images simply click the little images.
To see more images simply click the little arrows at either end of the images.
There is a caption below the full size image.
